U-1A Legion/Operator console

OPERATOR
CONSOLE

One screen for the person in charge: live video from the drone, sonar and drone status, and the controls to steer it. The operator makes the final call on every target.

01 On screen

Everything
on one screen.

The operator sits on the host vessel, well away from the minefield. Everything they need to find, check and deal with a mine is on one display.

Live video

The camera feed comes back over the fibre as it happens, all the way from the target.

Sonar and depth

Range to what is ahead and height above the seabed, shown next to the picture.

Drone health

Battery, link quality and warnings at a glance, so problems show up before they matter.

Holds

The drone can hold its depth, height and heading on its own, so the operator can watch the target instead of steering.

02 Today

Built for
testing.

The console we use today is a test tool. It steers Prototype v1 in the pool, and it also runs against our own simulator, so new features get tried out before they go near the water.

The console an operator gets will be simpler. The drone does more of the diving and steering itself, and the operator checks the target and gives the order. Later versions will let one operator run several drones at once.
